March Applications in Hazelnut Gardens

March is a period when important maintenance operations are carried out in hazelnut gardens. Spring has now begun and while the trees are preparing for the new growth period, the applications made will have a direct impact on the yield and product quality of the next season.
Things to do in March:
- Half of the recommended amount of organic fertilizers is used this month.
- Provided that it is done before the buds burst, comma scale insect control can be done. (If it has not been done in previous months)
- While the buds are starting to burst, bacterial blight control can be done.
- Towards the end of the month, control can be done against hazelnut gallfly (the second control should be done 20 days after the first control) and hazelnut leaf borer control can be done.
- If new dalking galleries are detected in the gardens when the air temperature reaches 18-20 degrees this month, control should be done against this pest.

- Weather Conditions: All operations to be carried out in February should be adjusted according to the weather conditions. Operations such as pruning or spraying should be postponed in rainy and cold weather.
