As Durak Hazelnut Industry and Trade Inc., to increase the productivity of our producers and contribute to our sustainable production goals ahead of the 2026 harvest year, soil samples taken from the orchards were sent for laboratory analysis.
Soil analysis determines the amount of plant nutrients in the soil, allowing for the accurate determination of the type and amount of fertilizer required for the crop to be produced. This aims to increase both yield and quality while also preventing unnecessary fertilizer use.
The methods used for soil sampling are as follows:
- A probe, auger, or spade is used for sampling.
- Samples are taken in a zigzag pattern, not in a straight line from one end of the field to the other, approximately every 15–20 steps.
- At each sampling point, a V-shaped hole is dug 30 cm deep, and a 3–4 cm thick slice of soil is taken from the surface of the hole.
- After the samples are cleaned of stones, plant roots, trash, and foreign matter, they are labeled, placed in appropriate bags, and delivered to the laboratory as quickly as possible.
At Durak Hazelnuts, we will continue to protect our producers' soil fertility through proper fertilization practices, support environmentally friendly production processes, and encourage high-quality hazelnut production.
