Durak Hazelnut continues to support sustainable agricultural practices in the field, supporting the producers' labor, preserving product quality, and facilitating the harvesting process with its netting application implemented in its model orchard.
Harvesting is one of the most important periods in hazelnut production, where the reward for a year's worth of labor is reaped. The right practices chosen during this process are crucial not only for maintaining the cleanliness and quality of the product but also for conducting the harvesting operation more systematically and efficiently.
With this understanding, through the netting application we implemented in our model orchard as part of Durak Sustainability, we aim to show our producers methods that can be applied and benefit them in the field.
The Contribution of Netting Application to the Harvesting Process
The nets laid in the orchard before harvesting help reduce direct contact between the fallen hazelnuts and the soil. This contributes to cleaner harvesting and reduces contact with foreign matter, while also supporting the preservation of quality characteristics.
The collection of the product gathered on the nets and its transfer to subsequent harvesting operations can contribute to a more organized work process. The application also provides advantages in labor and time utilization, helping producers to simplify the harvesting process.
