Within the scope of the fight against the brown skunk (Halyomorpha halys) pest, which seriously threatens productivity in hazelnut farming, pheromone traps were set up in cooperation with the Durak Hazelnut Sustainability Team and İkizce District Agriculture and Forestry Directorate.
This study aims to closely monitor the brown skunk population and make the control methods more effective. Pheromone traps, which are an important part of integrated pest management in agriculture, stand out as an environmentally friendly method that reduces chemical use and provides early warning.
The main benefits of pheromone traps are as follows:
- Detection of areas where the pest is located and monitoring of population density,
- Monitoring the time the insect enters the area,
- Determining the timing of spraying more accurately,
- Contributing to environmental sustainability by reducing the need for chemical control,
- Supporting the protection of biological diversity,
- Preventing product losses by offering producers early intervention.
As Durak Hazelnut, we continue to support sustainable agricultural practices and carry hazelnut farming into the future together with our producers.
